We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional to take a leading role in delivering a wide range of infrastructure, residential, commercial, and renewable energy projects across the South West.

The successful Senior Geotechnical Engineer will join a highly regarded technical team and will be responsible for managing ground investigations, producing detailed geotechnical assessments, mentoring junior engineers, and developing strong client relationships. You will play a key role in project delivery from tender stage through to design recommendations and reporting.

The successful Senior Geotechnical Engineer will:

  • Have a degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Have several years of UK geotechnical consultancy experience
  • Be experienced in managing and interpreting ground investigations
  • Have strong knowledge of geotechnical design and reporting
  • Be confident liaising with clients, contractors, and regulators
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Ideally be working towards or already hold Chartered status

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing site investigations and supervising fieldwork
  • Producing geotechnical interpretative reports and foundation recommendations
  • Slope stability and earthworks assessments
  • Mentoring graduate and junior engineers
  • Supporting business development and client management
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
