Job Description

Flood Risk Engineer

Location: Cardiff
Salary: Β£35,000 - Β£45,000

A growing consultancy is looking for a Flood Risk Engineer with around 3 years' experience to join their Cardiff team. This is an excellent opportunity for a flood risk professional looking to develop their technical skills while working on a varied range of projects across Wales and the wider UK.

The Role:

  • Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
  • Undertaking flood risk assessments for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects
  • Supporting surface water and drainage design, including SuDS
  • Carrying out hydrology and hydraulic assessments
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, Natural Resources Wales and other stakeholders
  • Producing technical reports and supporting planning applications
  • Contributing to flood alleviation and sustainable drainage projects
  • Working closely with wider civil engineering and environmental teams

The Candidate:

  • Around 3 years' experience within flood risk, drainage or water consultancy
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience producing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
  • Knowledge of UK flood risk policy and relevant guidance
  • Experience with hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW or InfoWorks ICM would be beneficial
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
