Flood Risk Engineer
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
A growing consultancy is looking for a Flood Risk Engineer with around 3 years' experience to join their Cardiff team. This is an excellent opportunity for a flood risk professional looking to develop their technical skills while working on a varied range of projects across Wales and the wider UK.
The Role:
- Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
- Undertaking flood risk assessments for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects
- Supporting surface water and drainage design, including SuDS
- Carrying out hydrology and hydraulic assessments
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, Natural Resources Wales and other stakeholders
- Producing technical reports and supporting planning applications
- Contributing to flood alleviation and sustainable drainage projects
- Working closely with wider civil engineering and environmental teams
The Candidate:
- Around 3 years' experience within flood risk, drainage or water consultancy
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience producing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
- Knowledge of UK flood risk policy and relevant guidance
- Experience with hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW or InfoWorks ICM would be beneficial
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
