Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be working with a well-established planning consultancy to recruit a Graduate Town Planner for their Bury St Edmunds office. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career planning professional to join a respected consultancy and gain exposure to a wide range of projects across the residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors. The Role
As a Graduate Town Planner, you will assist in delivering planning work across various development projects, contributing to high-quality planning advice and support for clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and pre-application enquiries
- Assisting with drafting planning statements and supporting documentation
- Conducting site appraisals and planning policy research
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, and clients
- Supporting appeals and planning strategy work
- Attending site visits, meetings, and committee hearings as required
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
- RTPI membership or be working towards chartership
- Some experience or placement experience within a planning consultancy or local authority environment (desirable but not essential)
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An organised, proactive, and collaborative approach
