I am recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer to join a leading UK consultancy delivering large-scale residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer ready to operate at Principal level, providing technical leadership while working on some of the most high-profile development infrastructure schemes in the UK.
This Principal Civil Engineer role focuses on the design and delivery of highways, drainage and external works across complex development sites. You will lead projects from concept through to technical approval and delivery, acting as a technical authority while mentoring engineers working on highways (S38, S278), drainage systems (S104, S98), SuDS, foul pumping stations and balancing facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the technical delivery of highways, drainage and infrastructure design
- Oversee S38, S278, S104 and S98 submissions through to approval
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and technicians
- Review designs, calculations and reports to ensure quality and compliance
- Support multidisciplinary coordination and client engagement
- Contribute to project strategy, programme and risk management
- Support business growth through technical input and senior-level collaboration
- HND, HNC or degree qualified in Civil Engineering
- Extensive UK consultancy experience in development infrastructure
- Strong AutoCAD and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage capability
- Chartered or actively working toward professional accreditation
- Confident leader with strong communication and mentoring skills
This Principal Civil Engineer position offers influence, responsibility and progression. The salary on offer is £60,000 - £72,000 plus benefits, alongside hybrid and flexible working and the opportunity to work from Bristol, Birmingham or Ringwood on nationally significant development projects.
