A growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. This is a great opportunity for an experienced geoenvironmental professional looking to take on more responsibility across a varied portfolio of projects, with the opportunity to lead investigations, manage projects and support the development of junior staff.

The Role

  • You will be involved in a range of geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects, including:
  • Planning and managing Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land investigations
  • Preparing factual and interpretative reports
  • Developing conceptual site models and assessing contamination risks
  • Designing and supervising ground investigations
  • Soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring
  • Reviewing laboratory results and assessing contamination data
  • Producing remediation strategies and validation reports
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and other consultants
  • Supporting environmental permitting and regulatory requirements
  • Managing projects, budgets and technical deliverables
  • Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team

About You

  • The ideal candidate will have:
  • A degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Several years' experience within a geoenvironmental or contaminated land consultancy
  • Strong experience across Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations
  • Experience with site investigation, soil and groundwater sampling
  • Good technical report writing skills
  • Experience managing projects and liaising with clients
  • A good understanding of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
