A well-established architectural practice based in North Devon is seeking an experienced Architect to join its collaborative and expanding team. The practice is recognised for delivering high-quality residential and commercial architecture across rural and countryside locations throughout the South West. Its portfolio includes bespoke homes, conversions, commercial developments, and heritage and conservation projects, all driven by a strong commitment to context-sensitive, landscape-led design.

Daily Duties

  • Leading and supporting projects from concept through to completion
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, including statements and supporting documentation, with administrative support
  • Managing the planning process and liaising with local authorities
  • Producing high-quality design proposals and technical drawings
  • Undertaking site visits across North Devon and the wider South West
  • Delivering sustainable, context-sensitive rural architecture

Ideal Candidate

  • Fully qualified Architect with proven UK practice experience
  • Strong planning knowledge, including hands-on experience preparing and managing planning applications
  • Background in rural, residential, or commercial projects
  • Excellent design, technical, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Revit (with D5 Render, SketchUp, and similar tools advantageous)
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative and proactive approach
  • Passionate about rural architecture and sympathetic, landscape-led design
  • Willing to support and mentor junior team members
