We’re hiring on behalf of an established multi-disciplinary building engineering consultancy with a growing Acoustics team delivering high-quality noise, vibration and acoustic design support across major UK developments and infrastructure projects. We’re looking for an Associate Acoustic Consultant to take a leading role in project delivery, support client relationships, and help develop the team’s capabilities and profile in the market.
The role
- You’ll be responsible for leading and delivering a range of work including:
- Architectural / building acoustics from early design through to completion
- Environmental noise & vibration assessments supporting planning applications and design evolution
- Building services (M&E) acoustics including plant noise assessment and mitigation design
- Construction noise & vibration monitoring and reporting (where required)
- Supporting internal and external stakeholders with clear, practical technical advice
You’ll also contribute to:
- Mentoring and supporting junior consultants
- Reviewing technical reports and maintaining quality standards
- Developing strong working relationships with clients, design teams and project stakeholders
About you
- You’ll likely have:
- Experience in acoustic consultancy at Senior Consultant / Associate level
- Strong technical knowledge across building acoustics and/or environmental acoustics
- Confident report writing and client communication skills
- Familiarity with key standards/guidance (e.g. BS 4142, BS 8233, BB93, ProPG)
- Experience using acoustic modelling software (e.g. CadnaA / SoundPLAN) and monitoring equipment
- The ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and competing priorities
Nice to have
- IOA membership and progression towards Chartered status
- Experience supporting EIA / Environmental Statement projects
- Section 61, planning appeals, expert witness support, or complex troubleshooting experience
