Job Description

ArboriculturalistA well-established and respected environmental consultancy is seeking a qualified and motivated Arboriculturalist to join its expanding team. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality arboricultural and ecological services across a broad range of development, infrastructure, and conservation projects, this consultancy offers the opportunity to work on varied and meaningful work throughout the UK.

The RoleThe Arboriculturalist will be responsible for delivering a range of tree-related services, from surveying and reporting to providing expert advice in support of planning applications and site management. The role involves working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting a wide client base across sectors such as housing, infrastructure, and land management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake BS5837 tree surveys and produce high-quality arboricultural impact assessments and method statements

  • Provide technical advice on tree protection, risk management, and planning-related issues

  • Prepare tree constraints plans and arboricultural input to landscape and site design

  • Carry out tree condition and safety inspections

  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of arboricultural inputs

  • Support junior staff and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and training

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, guidance, and best practice

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in arboriculture or a closely related subject

  • Membership of the Arboricultural Association or an equivalent professional body

  • Proven experience delivering BS5837 surveys and working in a consultancy or similar environment

  • Excellent report writing and communication skills

  • Proficiency with CAD and GIS software

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits

Desirable

  • LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection certification

  • Experience working on multidisciplinary projects with ecologists, landscape architects, or planners

  • Understanding of tree valuation, veteran tree management, and urban forestry
