A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to recruit a Hydraulic Modeller to join their established flood risk and water team in Manchester.
The role will involve working on a range of flood risk, drainage and water environment projects across the UK, with the opportunity to develop technically within a growing team.
The Role
- Developing and running 1D and 2D hydraulic models
- Flood risk assessments and flood mapping
- Surface water, fluvial and drainage modelling
- Model build, verification, calibration and sensitivity testing
- Analysis and interpretation of hydraulic modelling outputs
- Preparing technical reports and flood risk assessments
- Supporting the development of drainage and flood mitigation schemes
- Working with GIS data and producing flood mapping
- Liaising with clients, local authorities and other project stakeholders
- Supporting multidisciplinary teams across wider water and infrastructure projects
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience in hydraulic modelling or flood risk consultancy
- Experience using Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW
- Good understanding of UK flood risk and drainage principles
- Experience with GIS, particularly ArcGIS or QGIS, would be beneficial
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Good communication and project management skills
- Full UK driving licence
