Hydraulic Modeller

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to recruit a Hydraulic Modeller to join their established flood risk and water team in Manchester.

The role will involve working on a range of flood risk, drainage and water environment projects across the UK, with the opportunity to develop technically within a growing team.

The Role

  • Developing and running 1D and 2D hydraulic models
  • Flood risk assessments and flood mapping
  • Surface water, fluvial and drainage modelling
  • Model build, verification, calibration and sensitivity testing
  • Analysis and interpretation of hydraulic modelling outputs
  • Preparing technical reports and flood risk assessments
  • Supporting the development of drainage and flood mitigation schemes
  • Working with GIS data and producing flood mapping
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities and other project stakeholders
  • Supporting multidisciplinary teams across wider water and infrastructure projects

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in hydraulic modelling or flood risk consultancy
  • Experience using Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW
  • Good understanding of UK flood risk and drainage principles
  • Experience with GIS, particularly ArcGIS or QGIS, would be beneficial
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Good communication and project management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
