We’re looking for a Learning and Development Advisor to join our HR team here at Penguin Random House UK. This is a permanent, hybrid role based at our Embassy Gardens office in London. Reporting to the Senior Talent Development Manager, you’ll play a key role in organising, coordinating and supporting learning delivery across the business as part of The Academy - our company-wide learning offer. Working closely with expert trainers and teams across Penguin Random House, you’ll help shape and offer engaging, inclusive and high-quality learning experiences. You’ll also be a trusted point of contact for colleagues looking for guidance on learning and development – from workshops and mentoring to external training and professional qualifications.
This is a hands-on role where you can make a real impact by keeping learning activity running smoothly, building effective working relationships, and helping learning happen across the organisation. It’s a great next step for someone looking to build a career in L&D, combining practical coordination with opportunities to develop skills in designing and improving learning experiences. You don’t need experience in publishing. What matters most is your interest in learning and development, excellent organisation skills, curiosity, and a motivation to support effective learning.
Key responsibilities- Support the delivery of a year-round learning programme by coordinating schedules, logistics and communications, working closely with our L&D Coordinator to keep activity running smoothly.
- Act as the connector between the business and our expert trainers. You’ll build strong, trusted relationships with learning partners, and work with them to support the design and delivery of effective workshops. You’ll also facilitate a small number of internal, bitesize sessions yourself.
- Work closely with internal teams and external learning providers to support the commissioning, shaping and delivery of high-quality, inclusive learning experiences that meet business needs.
- Support continuous improvement by coordinating evaluation, gathering feedback and using insight to strengthen the learning offer, and to identify opportunities for new initiatives and content.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, managers and HR Generalists, acting as a trusted point of contact on learning and development needs.
- Lead the company mentoring programme from end to end, shaping communications, managing applications and matching, and creating high quality briefing experiences for mentors and mentees.
- Support colleagues to access professional study and external training by coordinating approvals, bookings and guidance with clarity.
- Manage and track The Academy spend against budget, ensuring learning investment is well managed and clearly understood.
- Experience in a learning and development or people focused role, or experience coordinating programmes, courses or events.
- Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and look ahead in a fast-moving environment.
- A practical mindset, able to turn ideas into action and move work forward in line with business needs.
- An interest in how learning is designed and delivered, with opportunities to build experience in this area.
- Clear, confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive and solutions focused approach, with good judgement, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently when needed.
- Collaborative and flexible - with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and levels.
- Curiosity about people, roles and the wider business, and an interest in using insight to shape learning and make improvements.

The salary for this opportunity is £35,000-£38,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus a generous bonus scheme and benefits.
