Pinewood Technologies are currently looking for an ambitious technology and/or design student to join our UX Design and Frontend Development Placement Scheme in Summer 2024! If you have an interest in both software development and design and have acquired knowledge in these areas through your university course, we’d love to hear from you!
Working alongside our talented UX team, you will work on real life projects that will make a direct impact on our business. You can expect on the job training, mentoring throughout, and an opportunity to develop your technical and commercial experience.
You can expect to develop your skills in the following areas:
- HTML
- CSS/SCSS
- Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, XD
- Responsive Web Design
- UX and Web Design
- Wireframing and prototyping

What can you expect?
We offer lots of support and a structured learning plan to ensure you gain all the skills you need to succeed with us. So, what will your placement year look like?
- We will kickstart the scheme with an initial settling in period including a business induction and coding boot camp. You’ll get to understand Pinewood’s wider business, meet key people, and bring yourself up to speed on the technologies we use.
- You will spend 12 months working in our talented UX team, where you’ll have continuous guidance from your mentor and you’ll help to further improve our products from a user experience perspective.
- You\’ll undertake regular technical workshops and have access to Pluralsight to support your ongoing training.
- You\’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of an entire project from design to release.

About you
We don’t expect our placement students to know everything. We look for those with a passion for design and technology, a strong team ethic, and solid communication skills. As long as you have a genuine desire to learn and develop your skillset, we want to support you in achieving your goals.
You will also need:
- To be a 2nd-year University student studying Digital Media, Computer Science, Software Development, or something similar.
- A genuine interest in working on front-end development and a passion for design.
- Problem solving skills and an analytical mindset.
- Self-starter with a positive can-do attitude.
