About the Role: The Head of Department (Social Studies) manages a large department covering A level subjects such as Psychology, Sociology, Health and Social Care, Criminology, English, Media and Sport. Ensures quality of teaching, progress and achievement of all students in years 12 and 13. Leads by example and contributes to student enrichment through guest speakers and field trips.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage departmental staff, curriculum delivery and teaching standards across all A level courses.
- Maintain student progress and achievement, support staff development, organise enrichment activities, and ensure compliance with safeguarding and registration procedures.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching A level, demonstrated outstanding classroom practice, strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to inspire staff and contribute to enrichment initiatives.
