An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Medical Receptionist/Patient Care Navigator to join our busy, but supportive team. Main duties include dealing with incoming telephone calls confidently and signposting patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way. You will be able to process appointment requests from patients by telephone or by the relevant NHS approved communication tool, following the Care Navigation protocol. You will need to deal with general enquiries, liaising with clinicians and other members of staff, and involve some administrative duties as required.
Experience within General Practice and the ability to use EMIS Web software would be desirable. Excellent IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are essential. We are looking to recruit an efficient and enthusiastic person for at least 25 hours per week on a rota basis. The hours of work will be over 5 days between 08:00 am and 6:30 pm per day on a rota which may change at short notice to cover sickness and annual leave. You will be required to cover extended hours from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm one evening per week on a rota basis.
The suitable team-worker will need excellent customer service and communication skills and also be flexible for any sickness or holiday cover in a very busy, computerised surgery which is open 8 am to 6:30 pm plus extended hours until 8:30 pm. Previous experience is desirable, though not essential as training will be provided. Clerical and keyboard skills are essential.
About us: We are a 4 partner practice, with a team of sessional GPs, Practice Nurse, Health Care Assistants, Clinical Pharmacist, and Admin teams. There is also the opportunity to join the NHS Pension Scheme.
Job Responsibilities:
- Main duties include dealing with incoming telephone calls confidently and signposting patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional.
- Processing appointment requests from patients by telephone or by the relevant NHS approved communication tool.
- Providing a professional and comprehensive information support service to the practice team.
- Undertaking a range of clerical tasks, including the use of a PC for data inputting and operation of the EMIS Web system.
- Providing a point of reception contact for patients and acting as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, and other members of the clinical and administrative staff.
Person Specification:
- GCSE grade A to C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Experience of dealing with the public.
