Responsibilities
- Your role will be central to ensuring that all procurement across the council is compliant, efficient, and aligned with our strategic goals.
- Developing and maintaining procurement policies and procedures.
- Providing expert advice and training to staff across the council.
- Overseeing tendering processes and supporting effective contract management.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, including the Procurement Act 2023.
- Leading on social value and sustainability within procurement.
- Managing supplier relationships and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Maintaining the Council's Contract Register and working closely with Legal Services.
- Using emerging technology to improve procurement processes.
Qualifications
- CIPS Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent experience).
- Strong experience in public sector contract management.
- Ability to interpret legislation and develop compliant local policies.
- Extensive knowledge of current procurement regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
Employment terms
- Flexible working, including no set core hours, up to 2 flexi days per month, and compressed hours.
- Up to 31 days annual leave.
- Flexible contracts requiring 2-3 days in the office each week (more if needed), so you should live within commuting distance of Nelson, Lancashire.
