About the Employer

I am a friendly, outgoing and warm-hearted lady who is very family-oriented and enjoys spending quality time with my family and friends. I am blind, but I am independent, sociable and love getting out and about in the community and would like you help with this. I have a real passion for reading, music and sport. I am a keen Arsenal supporter and enjoy following football, as well as being a big fan of tennis. I’m looking for a Personal Assistant who is outgoing, kind, patient and reliable, and who can support me to enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle.

The role will involve accompanying me when going out to see family and friends, attending appointments and getting involved in activities within the local community. I will also need support with preparing meals, attending medical appointments and general day-to-day activities. I am also looking for someone who is computer literate, as I would appreciate support with using computers and technology when needed. The ideal person will be friendly, approachable, patient and understanding, with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in helping others. Most importantly, I am looking for someone who will treat me with respect, encourage my independence and become a trusted companion as well as a PA. If you are sociable, caring and enjoy helping someone make the most of their life, I would love to hear from you!

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
  • Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
  • Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
  • Support with managing paperwork & correspondence.

The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
