Overview
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to help with household tasks which include cleaning and occasional meal preparation. The individual has mobility issues due to slipped disks and awaiting new knees, may use a wheelchair, and requires support accessing community socialising, shopping and appointments. The individual also experiences mental health challenges.
Environment
The employer enjoys dogs, horses, colouring and gardening, and keeps two large friendly dogs in the home.
Responsibilities
- Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
- Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
- Support and/or prompt to attend appointments (e.g. hospital, doctors).
- Help with food shopping.
- Assist in caring for pets.
- Provide transportation to school, work, college and social activities.
- Encourage socialisation and participation in activities.
- Promote friendships and independence.
- Develop a trusting one‑to‑one working relationship.
- Help with managing paperwork and correspondence.
- Assist with gardening.
- Support the individual in taking the dog for occasional walks.
- Report all accidents and hazards immediately and ensure safety at all times.
