At Pencil, we are building the Agentic OS for marketing. We're moving beyond individual AI tools toward a platform where a marketer can drop in a brief and get a fully produced, brand-safe campaign — without manually stitching agents together or knowing which tools to use. Our mission is to make marketing effective and effortless: AI ads are 10x faster and cheaper to make, and 2x better performing, than making them without AI.
We're looking for a Lead PM to own how users get from intent to output without needing to know how the machinery works. That means Scribble — our core super-agent persona — the intelligence that assembles workflows from a brief, and the discovery layer that surfaces the right capability across every Pencil surface.
The role involves owning three interconnected problems that together define how Pencil feels to use — not just what it can do:
- Scribble — the core persona: You own what Scribble is — its capabilities, its behaviour, how it improves over time, and how it embodies Pencil's values in every interaction.
- Discovery — getting to the right capability: You own how Scribble surfaces agentic capability contextually and invisibly across every Pencil surface: chat, workflows, canvas, and feeds.
- Orchestration — from brief to approved workflow to exported output: You own the intelligence that makes that proposal reliable enough to trust — and the approval mechanics that keep enterprise brands in control of what gets produced in their name.
Key responsibilities:
- Define Scribble's product roadmap — capabilities, improvement loops, trust model, and the metrics that tell us whether it's earning user confidence over time.
- Own contextual discovery across all Pencil surfaces — how Scribble surfaces the right capability through intent rather than navigation.
- Define orchestration requirements from the customer side — what the middleware layer needs to do, how it interacts with agents, skills and workflows.
- Evaluate technology options against customer requirements — working with engineering to assess frameworks against the experience you've defined.
- Work backwards from the customer — write the customer problem clearly before any significant build decision.
- Partner with engineering early — understand the technical constraints well enough to make good tradeoffs.
- Instrument everything — define the metrics that tell us whether Scribble is working.
- Prototype don’t explain - build working and actionable prototypes alongside the design and engineering team.
Your background:
- Hands-on AI product experience — you've shipped agentic or LLM-powered products in production.
- Marketing or creative tech background — you understand the enterprise marketer's world.
- Strong product instincts on persona and UX — you've thought carefully about how AI systems build trust with users over time.
- Comfort with ambiguity — this role sits at the frontier.
- Technical credibility — you hold your own in architecture conversations.
- Rigorous and fast — you move quickly but you instrument as you go.
You’ll thrive here if...
- You find the gap between 'the agent works in a demo' and 'the agent works reliably for 10,000 enterprise users' genuinely interesting to close.
- You care as much about whether Scribble feels right as whether it works correctly.
- You want to define how the next generation of marketing gets made.
- You write to think, not just to communicate.
KPIs & Success Measures:
- Scribble reliability: percentage of Scribble-initiated workflows completing without human correction.
- Brief to workflow: time from brief input to approved workflow proposal.
- Discovery lift: time from login or first prompt to first successful agent-led generation.
- Enterprise auditability: completeness of audit trail per workflow execution.
- Shared north star: % of platform exports originating from an agent-led workflow.
Benefits:
- 25 days PTO plus public holidays, although we operate a Flexible Time Off scheme.
- Health insurance / private medical cover.
- Monthly stipend towards wellness, fitness, and learning and development.
- Remote — work from anywhere in your home country.
- Enhanced parental leave policies.
- Access to our Pencil office in The Shard, London for our UK employees.
- Flexible working hours.
Pencil uses AI to make ads. Our mission is to make marketing effective and effortless. We want to become the default way ads get made.
