How You'll Make An Impact
As an Assistant Underwriter, you'll play a vital role in servicing our existing accounts and supporting our experienced underwriters. Youâll evaluate new business and renewals, make informed underwriting decisions, and ensure positive outcomes for our capacity partners, brokers, and customers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing risks and making underwriting decisions in line with our controls, appetite, and authority.
- Providing exceptional service to clients and colleagues through effective communication.
- Handling new business, renewals, ratings, and adjustment enquiries via phone, email, or digital platforms.
- Maintaining high retention and new business conversion rates to meet business targets.
- Actively trading and negotiating with brokers to grow our accounts and sell our products.
- Ensuring compliance with FCA regulations and conducting business ethically in line with our company values.
About You
- A minimum of GCSE qualifications, including passes in English and Mathematics.
- Knowledge of insurance principles and practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on customer centricity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to assess risks effectively.
- Self-motivation, accountability, and the ability to work independently.
- Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a professional, approachable attitude.
