We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks. The role will involve processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, assisting with reconciliations, and supporting month-end and statutory reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in finance, with training and support provided where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Create, review, and update employee expense claims and reimbursements
  • Maintain accurate financial records, both digital and physical, in line with company policies
  • Enter and update financial transactions within accounting software and internal systems
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Prepare and issue sales invoices to customers and external partners
  • Support payroll processes by reviewing and filing payroll documentation
  • Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and management accounts
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including audit preparation
  • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve queries
  • Carry out ad hoc finance tasks and support the wider accounts team as required

Qualifications and Technical Skills

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (essential)
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (around 1 year essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar (essential)
