Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced tax lawyer to join a leading international law firm as a Tax Knowledge Lawyer within its respected Tax & Rewards group. This role is particularly suited to experienced lawyers (5+ PQE) seeking to transition into their first Knowledge Lawyer position, combining technical excellence with strategic involvement across knowledge, business development, and training. It’s an ideal move for someone looking to step away from fee-earning while continuing to shape one of the UK’s top tax practices.

Why Apply?

  • Join a market-leading practice known for complex, high-value work.
  • Play a strategic and visible role influencing knowledge, training, and business development.
  • Benefit from a collaborative and forward-thinking culture that values innovation and expertise.
  • Enjoy a competitive salary of up to £155K and genuine long-term career prospects.

The Tax & Rewards group advises across corporate, finance, real estate, funds, and private client matters, including M&A, investment management, and family business structuring. The Knowledge Lawyer will focus on four key areas, strategy, knowhow, business development, and training, working closely with partners, associates, and business services teams to enhance technical excellence, streamline resources, and strengthen the group’s knowledge infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team’s knowledge strategy and ensure tax and policy developments are effectively shared.
  • Develop and maintain knowhow materials, precedents, and guidance notes.
  • Provide practical, expert support to fee-earners across all levels.
  • Design and deliver training programmes and internal knowledge sessions.
  • Collaborate with partners and BD teams on thought leadership and client content.
  • Work with the firm’s LawTech and Knowledge teams to improve systems and drive innovation.

About You

You will be a UK-qualified lawyer (5+ PQE) with strong technical tax experience from private practice, currently in a fee-earning tax role and ready to transition into your first Knowledge Lawyer position. You’ll bring excellent drafting, communication, and collaboration skills, along with a proactive approach and a passion for sharing expertise. Experience advising investment management clients would be advantageous, though not essential. Above all, you’ll be ambitious to build a long-term career as a Knowledge Lawyer, combining technical excellence with a genuine enthusiasm for learning, mentoring, and driving innovation.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of knowledge and learning within one of the UK’s top tax practices. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving strategy, supporting technical excellence, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, all within a highly regarded and supportive firm.
