The Commercial & Data Knowledge Lawyer will support award-winning Commercial, Technology Outsourcing and Data & Cyber teams that advise household-name clients across technology, retail, media, insurance and financial services. The role blends traditional knowledge leadership with a forward-looking mandate focused on AI, innovation and enhanced service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance precedents, playbooks, guidance notes and knowledge resources
- Lead knowledge sharing and horizon scanning across commercial, technology, data and AI topics
- Drive AI and legal technology initiatives, including internal tools and client-facing solutions
- Support client product development, pilots and innovation projects
- Deliver internal and external training on commercial contracting, AI governance, data protection and cyber risk
- Produce high-quality thought leadership, market commentary and client updates
- Act as a trusted technical adviser to partners and fee earners
The ideal candidate
This role would suit an experienced Knowledge Lawyer or a senior commercial/technology lawyer, (minimum 4 years’ PQE) looking to transition from fee earning into a strategic knowledge and innovation position. The successful candidate will have strong technical grounding in commercial contracts, technology, outsourcing and data protection, alongside a genuine interest in AI, legal tech and new ways of delivering legal services. They will be confident translating complex legal and regulatory issues into practical guidance, enjoy collaborating across teams, and bring a structured, commercial and forward-thinking approach to their work.
