An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Crime professional to join the Risk team of an elite national law firm as an AML Lead/Manager.

Based in either Bristol or Edinburgh, this is a strategic role offering the opportunity to influence the firm's approach to financial crime and regulatory compliance.

This is a broad and rewarding role sitting at the heart of the firm's risk and compliance function.

You'll act as a subject matter expert on AML and financial crime, helping the business navigate an evolving regulatory landscape while balancing commercial objectives with robust risk management.

Alongside providing practical advice, you'll contribute to the development of policies, governance frameworks and innovative compliance solutions that enhance operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on AML, sanctions and wider financial crime matters, including complex client due diligence, onboarding, beneficial ownership and source of wealth/funds enquiries.
  • Review and assess client and matter risk, support financial crime investigations where required, and provide pragmatic, risk-based recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain financial crime policies, procedures, controls and risk frameworks, while monitoring regulatory developments and supporting audits and compliance reviews.
  • Produce management information, analyse emerging trends and risks, and help improve compliance processes through technology, data and AI-driven solutions.
  • Deliver engaging training, workshops and awareness initiatives, building strong relationships with stakeholders across the firm and promoting a culture of compliance.

This role would suit an experienced AML and Financial Crime professional with strong technical knowledge of UK AML legislation and a background within a law firm.

You'll be confident advising on complex compliance matters, comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and able to translate regulatory requirements into clear, commercial guidance.

Experience of governance, risk management, compliance monitoring, regulatory reviews or technology-led process improvement would be highly advantageous, as would relevant financial crime or compliance qualifications.
