Job Description
This is a standout opportunity for a conflicts lawyer to join a leading global law firm in a role that offers both challenge and visibility. Alongside working on high-profile, multi-jurisdictional matters, the position includes a regular weekend working pattern (Saturday and Sunday), recognised with a premium hour’s payment. For the right candidate, a four-day working week will also be considered.
- Join a highly respected, collegiate global team with strong backing from senior management.
- Gain a unique, holistic view of the firm’s clients, strategy, and commercial decision-making.
- Earn a competitive salary while working directly with partners and senior stakeholders worldwide.
- Shape firmwide policies, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the global risk management framework.
The Business Acceptance Unit is central to the firm’s success, ensuring that new business aligns with legal obligations, professional standards, and commercial goals. As an In-House Lawyer, you will provide proactive, business-focused advice on conflicts of interest, confidentiality, reputational matters, and client engagement queries, while also supporting client ID/KYC considerations where relevant. The role offers significant autonomy, visibility, and influence, making you a trusted adviser to partners, practice heads, and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on business acceptance issues, including conflicts of interest, reputational and suitability concerns, confidentiality, client engagement terms, and related client ID/KYC requirements.
- Managing and resolving queries from partners, lawyers, and business teams worldwide, escalating complex issues where appropriate.
- Monitoring and interpreting changes in professional rules, regulation, and law that affect business acceptance processes.
- Contributing to the development of firmwide policies, procedures, precedents, and training programmes.
- Supporting information barrier procedures, including set-up, clearance requests, and related queries.
- Mentoring and supervising analysts, helping to build regulatory expertise and professional development across the team.
This role would suit a skilled conflicts lawyer with a strong track record of handling conflicts of interest in a law firm environment. International experience with a top-tier firm and exposure to multi- jurisdictional work are highly advantageous. You will bring excellent analytical skills, sound judgment under pressure, and a commercial mindset, alongside strong relationship-building abilities and a genuine interest in mentoring.
This is a chance to combine technical expertise with strategic influence while developing your career in a collaborative and supportive environment. You’ll play a key role in safeguarding the firm’s reputation, supporting senior decision-making, and shaping its global risk strategy. In return, you’ll benefit from a competitive package, recognition for the weekend working pattern, hybrid flexibility, and the potential for a four-day week.
