An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction and civil engineering business, working from their head office in Norwich.
This role sits within the Commercial Team and reports directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing full commercial management across designated sites, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to budget, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Manage commercial aspects of groundworks and civils projects.
Liaise with clients, ensuring requirements are met and projects progress as planned.
Prepare and present accurate valuation forecasts and monthly valuations.
Verify payments against applications and summarise debtor positions.
Price, negotiate, and agree contractual variations with clients.
Support project teams in mitigating risks to health & safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Oversee procurement and payment of subcontractors/suppliers.
Complete cost/value analysis, financial forecasts, and monthly performance summaries.
Mentor Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
10+ years\’ experience within groundworks/civils quantity surveying.
Strong commercial acumen and client-facing skills.
Excellent numerical, verbal, and written communication abilities.
Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines.
IT literate (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable:
HNC or equivalent in Quantity Surveying/Construction.
Highly organised, detail-focused, and methodical approach.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
Ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
Positive, proactive, and professional manner.
Qualifications
Essential: GCSE Maths & English (Grade C or above).
Desirable: HNC or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Construction.
