Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Groundworks & Civils Norwich | £25,000 – £35,000 + Benefits We\’re working with a leading construction and civil engineering company who are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial Team at their Norwich head office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within groundworks and civils, gaining exposure to large-scale projects and working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors in a supportive environment. The Role As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you\’ll play a key role in the day-to-day functions of the commercial team. You\’ll assist in valuations, cost analysis, procurement, and client management while learning how to take on greater commercial responsibilities. This position offers excellent scope for professional development, with mentoring and training available. Key Responsibilities Support the commercial team on multiple groundworks and civils projects. Assist in preparing and presenting valuation forecasts and monthly valuations. Verify payments against applications and summarise debtor positions. Support pricing, negotiating, and agreeing contractual variations. Assist in procurement and payment of subcontractors and suppliers. Help identify and mitigate project risks around H&S, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability. Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and colleagues. Provide support to Senior QSs in completing performance summary reports. Skills & Experience Essential: GCSEs (Grades A-C / 5-9) in Maths, English, and ICT. Strong numerical, communication, and organisational skills. Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines. Confident working independently or within a small team. Computer literate (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook). Desirable: HNC/HND or higher in Quantity Surveying/Construction (or studying towards). Previous industry experience (preferred, but not essential). Highly organised, detail-focused, and methodical. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
