Introduction
A gentleman in Pembrokeshire is seeking a personal assistant to provide companionship and socialisation opportunities to a gentleman who suffers with FND. Must have experience or knowledge personally or professionally of FND and have an understanding of the effects this has on the individual and family. This gentleman enjoys video games, Anime, American football and basketball. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.
Responsibilities
- Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
- General household duties – cooking, cleaning etc.
- Support with personal care.
- Assist with toileting on bad days.
- Assist with getting dressed.
- Providing support with shopping.
- Communicate with the person’s family and wider support network.
- Support the employer to develop independent living skills.
- Provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction.
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
- Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

Other Requirements
- A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
- You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
