Location: Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire

Closing date: Friday 5th September 2025

Pembrokeshire is one of the UK’s most stunning and distinctive counties, home to the world-renowned Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and a thriving, close-knit community. While our natural beauty supports a thriving tourist economy, attracting millions of visitors each year, our growing green and blue energy sector is helping to power a sustainable future for the region.

As a Council, we are in the midst of a journey of transformation to drive improvement throughout our organisation, to better serve the people and businesses of Pembrokeshire, today and in the years ahead.

At this critical time, we are seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Head of Children’s Social Care to lead our children’s services through a period of innovation, investment and change.

You will play a vital role in shaping and delivering a service that places prevention and early intervention at its heart. Collaborating cross-organisationally and with external partners will be essential here, including regional health and safeguarding board colleagues, care providers, academic partners, voluntary sector organisations and community groups. Our vision as a Council is working together, improving lives and so our integrated services are well-established. You will be a key part of a system that understands the clear importance of working alongside children and families to help them be safe, secure, thriving and happy.

This is a high-profile role, with a strong level of support across the organisation. We are therefore looking for a leader who is values-driven, relational in their approach, and committed to doing things differently. You will need to be agile, outward-looking, and confident in navigating complexity and risk, whilst bringing a deep understanding of the drivers of demand in children’s services, and a talent for aligning innovative thinking with practical resource management.

We welcome applications from experienced, qualified Heads of Service, as well as those ready to take the next step in their career. What matters most is that you bring the right values, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to lead with integrity and purpose.
