Pembroke Road Surgery is seeking a Salaried GP for 4 sessions per week to join our friendly, well-established practice in Clifton. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive environment with strong multidisciplinary and administrative support, enabling sustainable and rewarding GP working.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, patient centred general medical care, working collaboratively with GP partners, salaried GPs, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • The role includes a clear focus on maintaining continuity of care within a large, supportive practice.

Our team and support include:

  • 7 GP Partners and 6 Associate GPs
  • We are a training practice, including GP trainees, F2 doctors, and medical students
  • Clinical Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and nursing teams
  • PCN home visiting, care coordination, and social prescribing teams
  • A skilled admin team and PCN Prescribing Hub helping to minimise admin burden on our GPs

About us

Pembroke Road Surgery is a highly regarded GP practice caring for approximately 20,000 patients. We were recently ranked within the top five GP surgeries in BNSSG and first in Bristol by Bristol Live. We promote a positive, inclusive workplace with a strong emphasis on teamwork, staff wellbeing, and high quality patient care. We hold regular in-house teaching sessions including the occasional guest speaker, a daily catch-up at lunch, and regular social events. We are a very IT literate and forward thinking EMIS Web practice.

Job responsibilities

  • The normal duties of a General Practitioner as required by the Practice, including but not limited to:
  • Consulting with patients face-to-face and remotely; to include routine care, on-call and e-consultations
  • Undertaking home visits
  • Managing results, correspondence, referrals, patient tasks and prescriptions
  • Providing clinical advice and contributing to patient safety and continuity of care
  • Recording all consultations clearly in the patients clinical record in accordance with GMC guidance.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong written communication, including accurate clinical records
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of teaching, mentoring, or supervising colleagues
  • Ability to contribute constructively to meetings and service development
  • Strong understanding of NHS primary care systems and pathways
  • Knowledge of GMC standards, confidentiality, and information governance
  • Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for children and adults
  • Understanding of workload management and safe working practices
  • Knowledge of local services, referral pathways, and community resources
  • Awareness of PCN, ICB, and locality working arrangements
  • Experience
  • Completion of GP specialty training (CCT or equivalent)
  • Ability to provide safe, effective, and evidence-based general practice care
  • Competence in managing acute, chronic, and complex presentations
  • Experience of using EMIS / SystmOne or similar clinical systems
  • Understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding, and quality improvement
  • Special clinical interests (e.g. women's health, minor surgery, dermatology, MSK)
  • Experience working in a teaching, training, or research-active practice
  • Experience of MDT and PCN working
  • Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the NHS Performers List (England)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Evidence of continued professional development beyond minimum requirements
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
