Pembridge Hall is an independent girls’ preparatory school (ages 4 – 11) of 463 girls set in a tranquil residential square in Notting Hill. Pembridge prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. By combining traditional values with an innovative education, girls are prepared for life in an ever‑evolving world through an ambitious and aspirational prep school experience.
Pembridge Hall are now looking for a part time music teacher (2 days per week) to join them from September 2026. The Music Teacher will teach a broad, balanced, high challenge and inspiring Music curriculum across the school, ensuring pupils of all ages develop musical skills, creativity, confidence and a love of performing. They will teach classroom Music (a combination of year groups from Reception to Year 6) and contribute to the wider musical life of the school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Plan and teach stimulating, practical and engaging Music lessons tailored to pupils’ needs.
- Deliver the Music curriculum, facilitating singing, instrumental work, composition and performance.
- Carry out ongoing assessments and maintain accurate records in line with school policies.
- Encourage the development of pupils’ confidence, teamwork, listening and creative skills.
- Continually evaluate and refine own practice, ensuring teaching is rigorous, innovative and creative.
- Contribute to the extracurricular programme (e.g., choir rehearsals, ensembles, informal concerts).
- Keep up to date with curriculum developments in Music and best teaching practice.
- Honours degree in Music or a closely related field.
- QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Music in the primary age range.
- Evidence of strong pupil progress and high‑quality Music teaching.
- Confident pianist [ability to accompany all performances and ABRSM exams].
- Ability to use varied teaching strategies to motivate young learners.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
- Confident user of ICT in Music teaching.
- Ability to use assessment to raise standards.
- Strong communication skills with children and parents.
