As a User Interface (UI) Developer, you will be joining the Compliance Technology team within the Functions technology area. You will be instrumental in implementing the digitization agenda across Compliance and the rest of functions. You will be working on multiple global projects with the main priority being to help bring all fragmented function UIs into a single engagement layer called OneEmployee. You will build robust and beautiful digital experiences for human-centric designs. You will create highly performant websites which will be used by a wide range of colleagues within the Bank.

We’re committed to providing a supportive and inclusive culture and environment for you to work in. This environment recognises and supports ways to balance your personal needs alongside the professional needs of our business. Providing the opportunity for all our employees globally to work flexibly empowers each of us to work in a way that suits our lives as well as enabling us to better service our customers’ and clients’ needs. Whether you have family commitments or you’re a carer, or whether you need study time or wish to pursue personal interests, our approach to working flexibly is designed to help you balance your life. If you would like some flexibility, then please discuss this with the hiring manager, and your request will be reviewed subject to business needs.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

  • Having hands-on development using: JavaScript/CSS, Angular, Angular Material, Webpack, NodeJS and other modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Acting as a technical advisor for projects, providing advice on tools, process and design to others
  • Providing accurate and timely input to the Project Manager regarding the status of technical tasks for yourself and the team
  • Engaging with system users and business analysts to identify system enhancements and/or new applications to meet business needs
  • Creating working Proof of Concepts applications quickly to demonstrate to stakeholders and conclude requirements
  • Debugging and resolving problems by identifying and analyzing the root cause
  • Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Hands-on experience using JavaScript/CSS and building robust enterprise web applications
  • Deep exposure to modern object-oriented JavaScript framework Angular
  • Experience dealing with cross-browser issues, accessibility issues and theming of the web applications
  • Hands-on experience using components library such as Angular Material or Bootstrap

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Solid knowledge of the open-source JavaScript libraries and utilities (RxJs, NgRx, lodash, etc.)
  • Experience in writing build scripts using Node, Webpack, Grunt, Gulp, etc.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with Employee Compliance and Banking Compliance teams
  • Eye for design, motion or graphic design experience a plus
