To support our continued growth, we are seeking to strengthen our team with the appointment of an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an established and experienced HSE Manager from within the FMCG industry to join the business which is on an exceptional growth curve.
Purpose of the job
Reporting to the Operations Director the brief is to manage all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance, ensuring all legal requirements are met along with company policies and procedures.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Manage HSE programme to ensure compliance to legal, local and company policy requirements.
- Develop and maintain site SOPs.
- Maintain SOP matrix and review process.
- Develop and maintain HSE training matrix.
- Develop and deliver internal training to employees as required.
- Manage and organise any external training required e.g. first aider, fire marshal, fire extinguisher.
- Manage fire extinguisher maintenance schedule.
- Ensure PPE is available and is used when appropriate.
- Ensure spill kits are maintained and audited.
- The pest control schedule is appropriate to meet site needs and is effective.
- Develop and manage a site HSE audit schedule.
- Lead HSE site audits and ensure any corrective actions are completed to deliver continual improvement.
- Manage the disposal of scrap product and raw material to ensure compliance to legal and local regulations.
- Carry out risk assessments and set schedules for review.
- Carry out COSHH assessments and set schedules for review.
- Develop environmental policy and ensure compliance.
- Manage Accident reporting and conduct monthly debriefs.
- Conduct monthly EHS committee meetings and compile/publish minutes.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Practical hands-on experience in a similar role in an FMCG manufacturing business.
- NEBOSH or NVQ Level 6 Diploma (desirable) or proven equivalent experience.
- IEMA foundation certificate.
- Experience on ISO standards auditing requirements.
- Proficient at working with IT systems, including MS Office.
- A strong but personable disposition.
