About The Role: We are recruiting Senior Engineers in our Bridges and Civil Structures teams in our Birmingham; London; Manchester; Mold; Stansted; Wakefield offices. The role is to support our growing workload on challenging and exciting bridge projects working for a variety of clients and partners such as architects, contractors, private developers, highway and rail authorities. Current projects comprise feasibility studies, design, inspection, assessment and bridge management. Whichever office you are based in, you will be part of a well-supported close-knit team with direct contact to the cohort of bridge engineers within the UK. As an experienced engineer, you will use your skills to coach, mentor and support the more junior members of the team. There is plenty of growth potential for the suitable candidate within our business. We have a full L&D programme to support aspirations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and take responsibility in the quality and design delivery of various bridges and structures from feasibility, concept through to detailed design and site support.
- Adopt a holistic approach to problem solving, providing pragmatic solutions to industry best practice and current design codes and standards such as Eurocodes and DMRB.
- Develop cost effective, sustainable solutions with consideration to climate change and biodiversity.
- Manage and lead the inspection, assessment and design of bridges and civil structures in both rail and road environments.
- Undertake and oversee structural analysis for a wide variety of bridges, using appropriate software where necessary.
- Design and assess in steel and reinforced concrete.
- Communicate effectively in writing, drawing and verbally to technical and non-technical audience.
- Discuss ideas and concepts with confidence and in a professional manner.
- Contribute and engage in innovation and continuous improvement within your own work and the wider group within Pell Frischmann.
- Assist in business development and work winning opportunities.
- Contribute technical and commercial response in bids/tenders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chartered or Near Chartered Engineer with either Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers.
- Relevant Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience of using relevant standards and codes of practice: Eurocodes, British Standards, DMRB’s.
- Experience in some or all of the following: Inspection, Assessments, Maintenance, Design of bridges and civil structures.
- Strong technical skills in design/technical management delivering high quality output to programme and budgets.
- Aptitude to develop, mentor and coach less experienced engineers.
- Support professional development as DE or SCE.
- Considerable experience working within consultancy or carrying out the above within various Bridge projects.
