The Role

You will work within our Scottish Public Sector team, supporting the delivery of transport planning projects from inception through to completion. You'll collaborate directly with clients, stakeholders and senior colleagues to help develop evidence-led transport solutions that support sustainable growth and thriving communities.

The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical workstreams while developing your expertise across transport strategy, appraisal, policy and sustainable mobility.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of transport strategies, studies, appraisals and business cases.
• Analyse transport, demographic and spatial datasets to develop robust evidence bases.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, guidance documents and funding submissions.
• Contribute to transport appraisal and option development exercises.
• Engage directly with local authorities, Regional Transport Partnerships, statutory consultees and community stakeholders.
• Assist in the design and development of innovative tools, methodologies and assessment frameworks.
• Support transport planning studies associated with major development and regeneration projects.
• Contribute to active travel, sustainable transport and travel demand management initiatives.

About You

You’ll ideally have

• Credible years of experience in transport planning consultancy, local government or a related environment.
• A good understanding of Scottish transport policy, appraisal processes and the wider public sector landscape.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work confidently with data and evidence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience producing technical reports and presenting findings clearly to clients and stakeholders.
• A proactive, collaborative approach and a genuine desire to learn and develop.

Qualifications

• Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
• Progression towards Chartered status (TPP, CTPP or CEng) would be advantageous.
