WE are looking for a Structural Engineer on a 6 month FTC in our London office, inside of IR35 is required.
About the Team
Our Building Structures team has an established track record delivering technically demanding projects in the building development and infrastructure sectors. This work includes large residential led mixed use masterplan redevelopments on challenging brownfield sites, transport-oriented developments, high profile buildings such as the award winning Zayed Children’s Centre and building repurposing work such as Space House in Central London.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team, serving our clients across the Residential, Higher Education and Science, Workspace, Warehouses and Logistics sectors in and around the South East.
The office located close to Baker Street Station, London and is well connected to public transport infrastructure and has ample provision for cyclists.
Main Purpose of the Job
We have taken on an increasing workload supporting our clients in the assessment, maintenance, remediation and or improvements to existing built assets. This includes:-
- The surveying and assessment of existing higher risk residential building assets in respect of Building Safety Act related activities such as the preparation of Building Assessment Certification assessments
- The surveying and assessment of existing domestic and large scale residential building assets in respect of defect remediation
- Forensic assessment of identified structural defects; supporting clients in defect remediation proposal recommendations; support to warranty related work etc.
- The assessment of the structural impacts of cladding remediation works on existing building structures.
Whilst we see the majority of your role being associated with the activities previously described you will, where necessary be required to assume responsibility for your discipline contribution to multidisciplinary projects, including delivering the specified work, supporting contract administration post contract completion assessment/as-built analysis if required. You will perform complex technical or professional work activities and assure delivery to meet client requirements.
Additionally, you will be expected to provide direction to junior members of the team to support their development and achieve competent delivery. Carry out work within own discipline area collaborating with others as required for assigned projects as delegated by the Project Manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement project requirements to fully meet the client specification in accordance with relevant standards and or legislation
- Collate project information, liaise and engage in clients and third parties as required
- You will be expected to travel to sites/buildings around the south east; this may extend as far as Suffolk and the south coast in support of the work.
- Supervise site based activities projects as required
- Supervise and delegate to more junior members of staff and others as required
- Execute site-based or head office functions, liaising with the clients and other contractor staff to collect project specific information as required by the Project Manager
- Check / approve own and other staff work, including third party proposals, as identified in the Project Quality Plan on assigned projects
- Carry out other duties identified in the Project Quality Plan or as required by the Project Manager on assigned projects
What Qualifications, Experience & Skills are required?

Qualification
- Relevant degree to Civil or Structural Engineering
Accreditation
- Current CSCS card
Experience
- significant years of post qualification experience in comparable industry sectors
- Highly experienced designing Higher Risk Buildings, as defined by the BSA
- Evidenced experience of role aligned activities with peer engineering organisations; we are looking for individuals who have a good understanding of a range of structural typologies
- Experienced contributor to the preparation of fee proposals for role work scope
- A highly organised individual able to management multiple concurrent work streams

- Mentoring the technical development of peers
