We are looking to hire for an Electrical and Electronic Engineer Apprentice in our Exeter office. We are looking for a motivated and curious individual to join us as a Level 6 Electrical and Electronic Engineering Apprenticeship. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, contribute to exciting projects, and work towards becoming a qualified Civil Engineer.
About the Role
As an Electrical Engineering Apprentice, you will study towards a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Electrical and Electronic Engineering while working alongside our multidisciplinary teams. You’ll be involved in the planning, design and delivery of a wide range of infrastructure and built‑environment projects, helping to develop solutions that improve communities and support sustainable development. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will rotate through different areas of the business, gaining hands‑on experience in design, modelling, site work, project coordination and digital engineering tools.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting engineers with the design and analysis of civil engineering solutions
- Preparing technical drawings, reports and calculations
- Assisting with site inspections, surveys and data collection
- Contributing to project reviews, meetings and technical discussions
- Learning and applying industry standards, processes and sustainability principles
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple disciplines

Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Qualifications
- Essential: A‑Levels (or equivalent) in maths and ideally a Science subject. Grades at pass or above GCSE Maths grade C or above or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above)
- Preferred: STEM‑related subjects, relevant vocational qualifications, or prior exposure to engineering study
Experience
- Demonstrable interest in civil engineering or enthusiasm to pursue (e.g. projects, coursework, taster programmes, clubs)
- Work experience in construction, engineering, design, surveying or a related field
Skills
- Basic IT skills and ability to learn engineering software (CAD, modelling tools)
- Strong communication, teamwork, problem‑solving and willingness to learn
- Prior use of CAD, or digital design tools; familiarity with engineering drawings
- Evidence of leadership, initiative, extracurricular STEM activities, or project/team involvement
