The role of the Multi-Skilled Operative is responsible for ensuring the operational objectives within your area are achieved in addition to working to agreed processes, policies and procedures within the Production, Packing, Warehouse or Service Centre areas. The Job holder will be required to undertake specific projects either as a team member or as required by the Production Supervisor. The Job holder as a member of the Production team is expected to exhibit the behaviours and standards inherent within Peli Bio Thermal and to act as a role model for all staff.

Production & Packing

  • Work towards achieving department objectives on output and quality.
  • Ensure effective communication to other operatives, across other production areas and upwards to the Section Leader, Engineers and other internal personnel as necessary.
  • Check orders against the Production plan.
  • Production as per Work Instructions.
  • Packing as per Item Sales Specs and Works Order.
  • Effective set up and efficient running of machines as required including Cool Gel, Cool Pack, Cool Brick and Tic.
  • Ensure the quality of product through visual inspection and regular testing.
  • Request raw materials from stock as required.
  • Print and label products as required.
  • Ensure all documentation is checked/signed/dated and correct.
  • Support with continuous improvement and 5S within Operations.
  • Maintain general housekeeping and a safe working area.
  • Maximise cost efficiencies by minimising waste, continuously striving for improved product quality.

Warehouse

  • Assist in stock counts and stock takes.
  • Daily checks and use of mechanical handling equipment.
  • Receive stock from suppliers, checks receipt notes and visually inspects goods for damage.
  • Inspect stock against sampling plan.
  • Label material and store in designated areas.
  • Pick raw materials for packing and/or production against requisition form and/or picking list.
  • Load/unload any vehicles as required adhering to safe manual handling practices.
  • Ensure all documentation checked, signed and dated using correct GDP methods.
  • Maintain accuracy of stock, including regular system updates.

All positions

  • Perform other duties and work on tasks as required or assigned by the Production Supervisor.
  • Adhere and promote Peli Bio Thermal policies.
  • Assist in providing all necessary info for ISO auditors.
  • Actively support Peli’s Quality Objectives and contribute to Quality Management System activities as assigned.
  • Follow company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
  • Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Actively supports and complies with Peli’s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

This is a site-based role, located in Leighton Buzzard. Commutable from Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Luton, Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Minimum 2-3 years sales experience with track record in meeting/exceeding budget.
  • Ability to effectively close deals and manage sales cycles of varied length depending on the project.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Proficient in reading and writing English.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and maths skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work early and late shifts, overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.

Physical Requirements and working conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
