About the Role

PelGar International is looking for an experienced Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join our growing team in Alton. This hands‑on role spans the full procurement lifecycle—from sourcing and supplier selection to order placement, supplier management, and continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in building a resilient, cost‑effective supply chain, working closely with internal teams and suppliers in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement, including sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including reviews and site visits
  • Ensure continuity of supply in collaboration with planning and operations
  • Drive cost savings and value through effective negotiation
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery)
  • Resolve supply and quality issues with suppliers
  • Support new product development and supplier onboarding
  • Identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
  • Monitor market trends and mitigate supply risks

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement or buying
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Background in a manufacturing environment
  • Organised, proactive, and commercially aware
  • Excellent communicator with strong analytical skills
  • Willing to travel for supplier engagement
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards)
