The Role
Responsible for providing temporary support across all aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial close process.
Key Role Accountabilities
- Assist the monthly non-technical close process including processes such as bank reconciliations, prepayments, fixed assets, accruals, long-term debt, and other corporate transactions.
- Prepare and maintain lease commitment schedules.
- Prepare the quarterly intercompany recharge entries and settlement schedule.
- Liaise with third-party Finance on the quarterly recharge process, including closing out any queries and obtaining the relevant internal approvals.
- Prepare and review monthly FX rates, including reasonableness testing.
- Support quarterly Group consolidation process, including consolidation adjustments and investigation of variances.
- Assist with execution and preparation of SOX control documentation within the financial reporting process.
- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual Pelagos Group consolidated financial statements.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual Pelagos Bermuda consolidated financial statements.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and financial supplements for the Pelagos Group of Companies.
- Assist in the preparation of data and reports for the actuarial function.
- Assist the accounts payable function, processing and approval of invoices and employee expenses and approval of new suppliers in the Oracle and SAP Concur applications.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams for data collection, and preparation of schedules for rating agency capital returns and the monitoring of capital position.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly aged debt reporting, related monitoring of service level agreements, and preparation of the quarterly bad debt provision.
- Assist where necessary with the annual business plan and reforecasting for corporate expenses.
- Liaise with internal and external audit ensuring the timely completion of reviews and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Keep the CFO/Financial Controller fully informed of the status of the projects assigned, as well as relevant accounting-related issues that may arise from such projects.
- Ad hoc projects as required.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Qualifications:
- A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Experience:
- Up to 3 years’ post-qualification experience preferably gained in an insurance/reinsurance environment.
- Knowledge and experience of US GAAP preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting software (previous experience with Oracle and SAP Concur preferred but not required).
Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of applications with advanced Excel skills.
- Advanced and proven financial, analytical and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of the finance team and other key stakeholders across different functions within the organisation.
