Pektron Group Ltd are seeking to recruit a Principal Lighting Design Engineer. Your role will be to assist, support, and advise the Engineering Management team in finding the best technical direction for the lighting department. You will assist in the development of automotive lighting product design systems, tools and procedures within Pektron, identify new lighting business opportunities, creating proposals and supporting new business opportunities. This is a customer facing role so good communication skills are essential along with the ability to travel when required to support customer site meetings (UK or globally).

Key responsibilities:

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in target lighting markets, networking and building relationships with key decision makers.
  • Prepare and conduct middle & senior level technical presentations to current and prospective customers.
  • Create estimates for lighting based projects.
  • Exhibit resilience and problem-solving skills to be able to liaise between the Company and Customer to overcome any issues to move forward to successfully win new pieces of business.
  • Support project management colleagues to communicate customer timelines and ensure that expectations are met.
  • Negotiate and/or assist in resolving customer issues (pricing quality etc.).
  • Involvement with development of new products, working closely with Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments to meet client needs.
  • Create and develop lighting design, manufacturing and quality standards.
  • Manage lighting regulatory requirements and testing.
  • Assist in interviewing and testing of potential staff candidates for lighting disciplined activities.
  • Review lighting project scope and create quotations for out-of-scope activities requested by the customer.
  • Analyse complex lighting issues and develops root cause solutions both short term and long-term resolutions.
  • Provide support at the customer for short periods of time (abroad or UK based).

Experience required:

  • Knowledge of automotive lighting standards, lighting homologation and components.
  • 3D CAD (Ideally Catia V5) with the ability to create complex assemblies and A class surfaces.
  • Appreciation of optical design and toolchains used for it.
