The Outbound Sales Executive (New Business) is a pure new business hunter, responsible for building and closing a self-generated pipeline across white space accounts – organisations with no current PEI Relationship. This role does not work inbound leads. Success is defined by the ability to open doors cold, create demand where none exists, and convert untouched territory into closed revenue, before handing off to Account Management and Client Engagement for lifecycle execution.

Territory & White Space Ownership

  • Own a defined white space territory of net-new prospect accounts across segments, sectors and regions
  • Map the territory systematically: firmographic fit, ICO alignment, buying centres and entry points
  • Build and maintain a target account list with named buyers, influencers and champions per account
  • Continuously replenish the territory as accounts convert, disqualify or go dormant

Outbound Pipeline Generation

  • Self-generate 100% of pipeline through cold outbound: email, phone, LinkedIn and event engagement
  • Design and run multi-touch, multi-channel cadences tailored to titles, workflows and market triggers
  • Use market events, fund closes, hires and mandates as timely hooks for relevant outreach
  • Qualify rigorously against structured scoring criteria; disqualify fast and move on

Full-Cycle Sales Execution

  • Lead discovery, solution positioning, product demos, proposal generation and commercial negotiation
  • Multi-thread into accounts, managing stakeholders across functions and regions to build consensus
  • Create and drive urgency in accounts with no prior intent to buy
  • Close self-sourced opportunities end-to-end and hand off cleanly to Account Management and Client Engagement

Demand Creation & Market Presence

  • Act as the tip of the spear in new segments, sectors and geographies where PEI has no footprint
  • Align with sector teams and vertical strategies where applicable (e.g., infrastructure, real estate, secondaries)
  • Represent PEI at industry events and conferences to source and progress opportunities
  • Feed territory insight, objections and competitive intelligence back to Marketing and Product

Forecasting & Metrics

  • Own individual quota for new business closed from self-sourced pipeline
  • Accountable for activity and conversion metrics: outreach volume, meetings booked, opportunities created, win rate
  • Maintain accurate forecast, pipeline coverage and CRM hygiene in Dynamics 365
  • Participate in weekly pipeline reviews, sales stand-ups and strategy sprints

About You

Qualification & Experience

  • Proven track record in new business / cold outbound sales with consistent quota attainment
  • Demonstrated success in building self-generated pipeline in white space territories
  • Experience in complex, enterprise B2B sales cycles
  • Strong understanding of ICO (Ideal Customer Outline), firmographics and targeted account selection
  • Proven ability to multi-thread within organizations and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Proficiency with sales tools and CRM platforms (Dynamics 365 preferred)
  • An interest in Private Markets and enthusiasm to learn more about the industry

Technical Skills

  • Advanced prospecting and cold outreach across multiple channels (phone, email, LinkedIn)
  • Sales techniques including discovery, value-based selling, negotiation and objection handling
  • Ability to create compelling proposals and deliver compelling product demonstrations
  • Market research and competitive intelligence gathering
  • Data analysis and pipeline management skills

Personal Attributes

  • Resilient and driven: thrives under pressure and remains focused on closing new business in the face of multiple competing priorities
  • Self-motivated with a passion for succeeding and a comfort operating independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to engage with and persuade stakeholders at all levels
  • Persistence and resilience: comfortable with rejection and able to maintain momentum and positivity through long sales cycles
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify patterns, prioritize accounts and adjust tactics based on market feedback
  • Fast learner with high self-awareness and comfort with regular feedback
