This position is responsible for planning & purchasing of products, managing orders, monitoring and managing inventory and negotiating and assuring favorable purchase pricing with suppliers for their assigned lines.
Working as a team with several other Buyers as well as Product Managers to perform all duties in a manner which ensures total quality and effective customer service. Maintain PEI systems & data to assure enforcement of existing agreements, cost, and pricing.
This position is also responsible for acknowledging supplier orders and checking the delivery dates are within the agreed lead times. Also expediting outstanding orders where necessary to ensure stock is delivered within agreed time frame.
Assist sales representatives by performing clerical duties required to maintain customer accounts. Aids in building manufacturers rapport and fostering goodwill for PEI. Performs all duties in a manner which ensures total quality and effective customer service.
Technical Competencies:
This position is very data-entry intensive. Data entry and analysis is high volume, and accuracy is critical.
- Experience planning and/or buying with ERP/MRP systems such as Oracle, SAP, AS400, JD Edwards, or PeopleSoft (or other) required.
- Industry experience in a manufacturing company and/or with Bills of Material preferred.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency - Emphasis on Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, organisational skills.
- Advanced experience of Excel required.
- Must be comfortable working with large amounts of data, in large files and with multiple sheets.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, suppliers and other employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
