A newly launched energy division, backed by a well-established UK engineering group, is looking for an experienced Senior Solar Designer / Solar Design Manager to play a pivotal role in building and shaping a high-growth renewable energy business from the ground up.

Backed by significant committed investment and the infrastructure, reputation, and relationships of a long-standing engineering organisation, this is a rare opportunity to join at the start of an ambitious growth journey within the commercial renewable energy sector.

The business is focused on delivering integrated commercial energy solutions including:

  • Solar PV
  • Battery Storage
  • EV Charging
  • Microgrids & Virtual Power Plants
  • Lifetime Operations & Maintenance

This role is far more than a traditional design position. You’ll be responsible for helping define engineering standards, selecting tools and suppliers, shaping processes, and supporting the growth of the wider technical team.

For the right individual, this is a genuine “blank canvas” opportunity with the backing and financial stability of an established UK engineering group.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven commercial & industrial solar design experience (50kW – multi-MW)
  • Advanced PVSol capability including shading and yield analysis
  • Strong experience managing G99 DNO applications through to approval
  • Understanding of behind-the-meter systems and battery integration
  • Comfortable engaging with clients, DNOs, and contractors directly

Desirable:

  • Battery storage system design experience
  • Solar carports, ground-mount or microgrid exposure
  • EV charging infrastructure knowledge
  • Experience within a UK installer, EPC or developer environment
