The predicted salary is between 30200 - 30200 £ per year.

Salary: £30,200 per annum pro rata

Hours: 15 hours per week (days to be agreed with Line Manager)

Location: Pegasus Theatre, Oxford

Working arrangements: Hybrid/Remote working options available

Annual Leave: 25 days holiday pa pro rata plus designated bank holidays pro rata

Pension: A workplace pension scheme is operated by Pegasus Theatre Trust through NEST with an employer contribution of 4% and an employee contribution of 4%

Join our team at Pegasus! Pegasus is looking for an organised, accurate and proactive Finance Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day financial management of Pegasus, ensuring our financial records are accurate, up to date and support effective decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll be responsible for bookkeeping and a range of financial processes including income and expenditure, banking, reconciliations, petty cash, payroll support and VAT returns. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has excellent attention to detail and is able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accurate and timely processing of income to Sage, including ticket sales, cash takings, invoices and donations.
  • Process and correctly record grant awards and other income.
  • Reconcile front of house takings, Ticketsolve and Worldpay statements.
  • Process expenditure including purchase invoices, expenses and card payments.
  • Prepare and process salary and supplier payments for final authorisation by the Finance Manager.
  • Monitor bank accounts, process receipts and payments and complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Manage petty cash and front of house floats, including reconciliation.
  • Monitor creditor and debtor control accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant financial regulations and legislation.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to the wider work of Pegasus.
  • Follow Pegasus policies and procedures, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Health & Safety and Safeguarding.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has 3–5 years’ experience working in a bookkeeping role.
  • Holds a professional bookkeeping qualification such as AAT Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Has a good understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
  • Has excellent numerical skills and financial awareness.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Has strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to working with financial information.
  • Can work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Has good IT and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Is committed to equality and diversity.

Experience of using Sage, working with multiple cost centres and restricted funds, preparing VAT returns or supporting payroll would be desirable. Experience of working with or in an organisation supporting children and young people would also be welcomed.
