Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Associate Director or Director-level Quantity Surveyor to lead and grow a thriving cost management function across multiple office locations. This is a strategic leadership role, ideal for a commercially astute QS who thrives on team development, operational oversight, and building client relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing teams across regional offices, delivering projects to the highest standards, and playing a key role in business growth. Prior experience in the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) or other public sector frameworks will be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership of Regional Teams: Oversee and support Quantity Surveying teams across multiple office locations, ensuring consistency in delivery, team engagement, and quality.
  • Project Delivery: Lead the delivery of complex cost management commissions across public and private sector schemes, ensuring best-in-class service from pre-contract through to final account.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a senior point of contact for key clients, nurturing relationships and identifying new opportunities for growth.
  • Operational Oversight: Support business planning, resource management, recruitment, and the mentoring of junior and mid-level team members.
  • Strategic Contribution: Contribute to shaping business strategy, commercial planning, and the development of new service lines or sector specialisms.
  • Public Sector Experience (Desirable): MOJ project experience is highly advantageous, particularly for those with knowledge of secure environments, framework delivery, or public capital procurement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience at Associate Director level or above in a cost consultancy or multidisciplinary environment.
  • Track record of successfully leading multi-location teams and managing high-performing QS functions.
  • MRICS (or equivalent professional qualification).
  • Strong knowledge of public sector frameworks and procurement routes – MOJ project experience is a significant plus.
  • Skilled in pre- and post-contract services, stakeholder management, and team leadership.
  • Commercially minded, with experience in fee proposals, budgeting, and profitability oversight.
  • Confident communicator, with the ability to lead client meetings, win work, and mentor talent.
