  • Wisbech Gateway – undertaking economic benefits analysis for a commercial/industrial gateway development in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.

What Are We Looking For.

We are seeking a talented individual that can manage a range of complex projects which includes providing economic input on planning statements, local plan representations, economic benefit reports, health impact assessments, equality impact assessments, socio-economic chapters and social impact analysis.

You will be expected to lead on the delivery of projects and present analysis to colleagues and clients, as well as at conferences and seminars where appropriate. Your work will be across a range of sectors such as residential and regeneration schemes, town expansion, retail, commercial and leisure-related projects.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

  • A degree in economics, human geography or a related subject.
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in Economic Development.
  • Knowledge of the planning system and how economic development feeds into it, including representations to local plan development.
  • An in-depth understanding of socio-economic data from official and unofficial sources including ONS, NOMIS and gov.uk.
  • Experience of leading on economic impact assessments for a variety of schemes, calculating job creation, contribution to economic output etc.
  • Experience of writing socio-economic ES chapters for a variety of schemes requiring an environmental impact assessment.
  • Experience of writing health impact assessments and equality impact assessments.
  • Extensive knowledge of how economic development is delivered in the UK in terms of the Government, Combined Authorities, local authorities etc.
  • Understanding of social value and its relationship to economic development, along with the different ways of measuring it.
  • Experience of conducting research projects from design to completion.
  • Lead and support on bid preparation.
  • Ability to manage time and resources efficiently and handle demanding timescales, including being able to prioritise tasks and work effectively with others to deliver work on time and to budget.
  • Project management experience.
  • Line management experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate issues and ideas effectively.
  • Strong analytical capacity with experience of numerical and presentation skills
  • Able to manage clients’ needs in a confident, professional manner.
