Are you a hands-on problem solver with previous Mechanical Engineering experience? Are you excited by the opportunity to work with a range of equipment in a fast-paced, operational environment? We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our team at the Port of Great Yarmouth and help us keep the world moving!

Your Role

In this role, you will carry out hands-on preventative maintenance work and timely repairs on all mechanical and non-mechanical equipment in accordance with the Mechanical Site Safety Rules set out by Peel Ports Group. You will attend to unplanned failures promptly to meet reliability targets and carry out shift workload as stipulated by the Facilities and Infrastructure Manager.

You will report parts and materials deficits to the Facilities and Infrastructure Manager without delay, demonstrating a commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate. You will ensure Health and Safety is at the forefront of all activities, delivering a safe personal working culture.

What you'll bring

  • You will have previous mechanical engineering experience with a strong understanding of plant & machinery, critical PPMs, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong fault-finding experience and the ability to use fault-finding diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of effective maintenance strategies, i.e., RCM, PM, CBM, TPM, is beneficial.
  • A fundamental understanding of electrical equipment.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a safety-critical, busy environment.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest Health and Safety standards in line with company policies and procedures.
