Are you excited by the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Engineering and Operational functions by managing and overseeing permit-related processes? Do you have an Engineering background with experience working with Risk Assessments and Method Statements? We are seeking a Contractor and Permit Controller to join our team at the Port of Liverpool, and help us keep the world moving!

Your role

  • In this role you will issue permits for specific tasks, including reviewing applications, ensuring the correct paperwork is submitted, and ensuring the conditions of the permit are met.
  • You will monitor ongoing activity to ensure all conditions of the permit are being adhered to, including verifying that work is carried out according to safety and environmental guidelines.
  • You will ensure permits are issued accurately and promptly, and are compliant with safety guidelines.
  • You will adapt and modify permits when necessary to accommodate unforeseen changes in project scope.
  • You will regularly monitor work sites to ensure compliance with the conditions outlined in the permit.

What you'll bring

  • You will have previous engineering experience alongside:
  • Experience working with Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, particularly DSEAR, PUWER, LOLER and COSHH
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with Permit to Work Management Systems & Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) systems
  • Willing and able to work at height and in confined spaces
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification is essential
  • A full valid driving licence is required for this role.
