Are you an experienced operations trainer ready to take the lead in shaping and managing a high-performing training function? Do you have the leadership, vision, and operational know-how to elevate training standards in a safety-critical environment? We are seeking an Operations Training Manager to join our Mersey Division and help us build a culture of excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across our operational teams.
Your role
As our Operations Training Manager, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and delivering a strategic training plan across our Liverpool operations. Supporting over 100 port operatives and third-party labour, you will lead the development and implementation of operational training programs that enhance safety, capability, and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the training function and managing our in-house trainer
- Designing and delivering high-quality training that aligns with operational and safety standards
- Conducting audits and evaluations to ensure training effectiveness
- Driving continuous improvement in training materials, processes, and delivery
- Partnering closely with Health & Safety, Compliance, and Operational leaders
- Maintaining accurate and compliant training records
What you'll bring
We are seeking a confident and capable training leader who can both deliver on the ground and think strategically. To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised training or instructor qualification (NPORS preferred, RTITB considered)
- Experience designing and delivering training in high-risk or logistics environments
- Proven leadership of a training function or team
- Strong knowledge of plant and equipment operations
- Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills
- A solid understanding of compliance and safety standards
- A Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH/NEBOSH) is advantageous
