Your Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the proactive maintenance and operation of plant and equipment, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Your focus will be on maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment while minimizing any potential disruptions to day-to-day operations. You will take a hands-on approach to preventative maintenance, conducting regular checks and servicing to identify potential issues before they affect performance. Using advanced diagnostic tools, you will troubleshoot and carry out repairs on a variety of mechanical systems, including impounding pumps, hydraulic systems, bridges, dock gates, and other critical infrastructure. You will ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with internal policies and procedures and external statutory requirements in relation to Health, Safety, Environment, Engineering and Quality standards. What you'll bring
You should have a mechanical engineering background, preferably with experience in heavy industry. As well as:
- Experience maintaining hydraulic equipment, impounding pumps, lock gates, bridges, and related systems would be advantageous.
- Previous experience working with PLC equipment and be willing to participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours reactive maintenance when needed.
- You will be expected to consistently uphold Peel Ports' Health and Safety standards, with the ability to create Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and have a solid understanding of Permit to Work systems.
- Experience with CMMS systems, including fault and defect reporting, is required.
- You should also have knowledge and experience with relevant statutory requirements and legislation, including but not limited to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR.
