Vacancy – Group Marine Environmental Compliance Officer

Are you excited by the opportunity to support our sustainability goals by monitoring Group Marine activities, ensuring they comply with relevant environmental legislation? Are you passionate about protecting the marine environment and promoting sustainability? We are seeking a Group Marine Environmental Compliance Officer to join our team at the Port of Liverpool, and help us keep the world moving!

Your Role

In this role you will ensure Group Marines activities comply with relevant national, and International, legislation. You will understand marine licences, environmental permits, and other consenting processes in England and Scotland, and will track new environmental legislation as it evolves.

You will also implement relevant Habitat Regulations, Water Environment Regulations, and Marine and Coastal Access Act requirements, conducting some of our Habitat Regulations Assessments, Marine Conservation Zone, and Water Framework Directive assessments and liaising with regulators and stakeholders as and when required. You will understand Marine Planning processes and contribute to their development and implementation on behalf of Statutory Harbour Authority.

What you\’ll bring

You will have demonstrable experience with marine licenses, environmental permits, and consenting processes in England and Scotland. You will have a strong understanding of key regulations and related assessment procedures, including the Environment Act, Habitats Regulations, Water Environmental Regulations, Marine and Coastal Access Act as well as the Statutory Harbour Authority\’s environmental duties.

You will be familiar with marine planning policies and have the ability to track evolving regulatory landscapes, preparing consultation responses when required. With excellent report writing and communication skills, you will be able to work independently and part of a team. Being degree educated in a relevant discipline is expected.
